Why FAMILY is a core value

Selecting FAMILY as a Core Value was an obvious choice for us for so many reasons, as we all come from and contribute to our own FAMILIES. There are so many types of families in our world today – biological families, adoptive families, foster families, blended families, etc. We can’t choose our birth families but if I could have chosen mine, I most definitely would have chosen my Mother, Father and Brother. They are three of the biggest blessings in my life and have given me a solid foundation by providing me with love, care, life lessons, values, independence and so many of the qualities that have made me the man I have become.

My birth FAMILY did a wonderful job raising me, as did the community I was raised in. It’s often said that it takes a village to raise a child and Slave Lake was that village for me. Being a small community back in the 60’s and 70’s, everyone knew everyone and if I stepped out of line, as I sometimes did, another parent would be quick to put me back in, knowing that they already had my parents’ approval to do so. It was like an unwritten rule. Strong communities are an extension of our families and we strive to build this type of environment in all of our properties. Having had the benefit of a great FAMILY and community it is my desire to form and nurture a culture of caring for one another among our work FAMILY at Mouallem Management Group. We spend, in most cases, up to eight hours a day surrounded by our fellow TEAM members and this plays into our overall level of happiness. The FAMILY within the Mouallem Management Group is always looking for ways to show our TEAM members (and our guests) that WE CARE about their wellbeing and happiness.

On our recent Core Value visits, the General Managers put together an activity reflecting their own properties’ unique personality, demonstrating what FAMILY means to them and what they do every day to show how they Care for each other and our valued guests. Inside this issue, we are proud to share more about our FAMILY at the Mouallem Management Group; you’ll meet our newest additions to the FAMILY, and see highlights from the past quarter and our Core Value Meetings.
